Government promises more development projects in Likoma

President Mutharika’s running mate in the May 21 elections Hon. Everton Chimulirenji has promised people of Likoma delivery of development projects in the district if President Mutharika is given chance to govern for another five years after May 21 polls.

Hon. Chimulirenji was speaking during a political rally he conducted at Mbamba Market in the district.

Chimulirenji, who is also the Minister of Civic Education, pointed out that Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is geared to boost the nation both socially and economically.




On education and training, the DPP presidential running mate added that their party will construct Technical training colleges in every constituency, and will in addition construct 200 secondary schools seven of which will be built in each district in the country once voted into power again.

Commenting on the matter Acting Traditional Authority Mkumpha III said he appreciates government’s efforts for initiating development projects in Likoma. Mkumpha cited the construction of Chima TB ward and mortuary which is to commence soon.

He said chiefs are ready to work and support President Mutharika and the DPP in the forthcoming tripartite elections.

Meanwhile DPP Shadow MP for the district George Kamwanja, appealed to the people to vote for him as he is the only one who is capable of transforming Likoma and Chizumulu islands. Kamwanja challenged his constituents that during his period he has done a lot for the district amongst which is the construction of the Airtel tower at Chizumulu Island following his successful negotiations with the mobile company.

“I am appealing to each and every eligible voter in Likoma and Chizumulu Islands to vote for President Mutharika and DPP candidates contesting for parliamentary and councillorship positions so that we continue running government and fostering development in this country,” he said.
