Minister of Homeland Security, Nicholas Dausi made the remarks at Kande in Nkhata Bay District when he represented the State President to condole the bereaved family of late Yasin Phiri, who was gruesomely killed in the district about a week ago.
Dausi, said government will not tolerate the barbaric act of killing people with albinism in the country.
“Let me assure Malawians that as government, we will ensure that we establish the master minders of the killings and abductions of people with albinism,” said Dausi .
Dausi then urged Civil Society Organizations, the clergy and the media to work hand in hand in disseminating information in relation to the safety and protection of persons with albinism.
Inspector General of the Malawi Police Service, Rodney Jose, urged the community to report any information which may lead to the arrest of other people connected to the killing and trace body parts of the late Phiri.
In his remarks, Senior Chief Mfukamapili called for stiffer penalties to those found guilty on the matter saying this will send a strong warning to would-be offenders.
Meanwhile, Nkhata Bay District Council, in conjunction with the Police in the district, is reinforcing the grave of late Yasin Phiri.
