This has been disclosed in Lilongwe by Director of Marketing and Development for the institution Lindatase Mwagomba. Mwagomba said Unicaf University always aims at giving back to the communities it serves, in the best and most creative way possible.

"Within the framework of the Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, Unicaf University Malawi has decided to contribute in raising computer literacy standards among the country’s young population, by offering free computer lessons to all interested graduates of 2017 and 2018, at our state-of-the-art campus in Lilongwe, during the month of August," said Mwagomba.

She further said, Unicaf University Malawi carried out a survey on a number of secondary schools in various parts of the country, and have noticed that a large number of students do not possess adequate computer skills that are crucial for pursuing higher studies.

"Even though the subject of Information Technology has recently been introduced in secondary school curriculum, it is not compulsory, and many schools do not have computer labs."

Unicaf intends to run the free computer lessons at its Lilongwe campus in a bid to narrow the digital gap. The lessons will span a period of 21 days from 9th August to 30th August.
