Speaking to MBC, President for the Film Association of Malawi-FAMA Ezaius Mkandawire said the industry, if well promoted can spur the country’s economy.
“Periodically the film association conducts training to build capacity for the people who are involved in the film making,” he said pointing out that there are more issues that the association is aiming in terms of themes in the films like climate change, gender based violence among others to make art richer.
Mkandawire said so far, the association has lined up a number of activities aimed at building capacity for local film-makers in order for them to produce films that can meet international standards.
FAMA president has since underscored the need for broadcasters including television stations to develop policies aimed at promoting the industry for the benefit of both the film-makers and broadcasters themselves.
Film Association of Malawi (FAMA) is a non-profit making organization that aims to promote and improve Malawi's film industry. The mission of FAMA is to attain a vibrant and working film industry in Malawi.
