APM to open MITF, more than 215 exhibitors to participate

According to the Office of the President and Cabinet – OPC the President is expected to arrive at the venue of the function at 10:00 AM.

 

Meanwhile, Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry –MCCCI says the preparations for the 29th Malawi International Trade Fair are now almost complete.

 

Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry –MCCCI Chief Operation Officer Chimwemwe Luhanga said this at a press briefing in Blantyre on how far they have gone with the preparations for the fair.

 

Luhanga also disclosed that many exhibitors in and outside the country have shown interest to participate at this year’s Fair.

 

“So far 215 exhibitors have confirmed to exhibit occupying 256 stands. Out of these 14 are foreign exhibitors from 5 countries; Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, India, and Tanzania,” said Luhanga pointing out that exhibitors are now busy preparing their exhibitions at the venue.

 

He added that awards will be given during the official opening of the Fair using the following categories which exhibitors will compete; best manufacturer, best exporter, best small and medium enterprise, best service exhibitor and overall exhibitor.

 

“We shall have special days set aside for different Ambassadors and High Commissioners to come and visit the Trade Fair and appreciate what both our local and international companies have come to showcase. This will be from the 25th to the 27th of May 2017,” explained Luhanga.

 

The main objective of the Trade Fair is to provide platform for local and international participants to showcase their exhibitions and network with patrons and other participants.

 

The theme for this year’s Malawi International Trade Fair is “Productivity: A Source of Export Competitiveness”. Exhibitors are therefore preparing for exhibitions in line with the theme to highlight the need to tackle the issue of productivity and a foundation for achieving export competitiveness.

 

The MITF will be open throughout the period from 24th May to 3rd June 2017 for different stakeholders to visit and patronize the fair.
