Gibson Mgadamika, a Malawi Postal Corporation (MPC) employee has been arrested along side his accomplice Samson Mweso who is suspected to have produced the said certificate.

Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) Public Relations Officer Simeon Maganga has confirmed the arrests to MBC online.

The two were arrested on Tuesday following investigations by Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb) in conjunction with central region police.

“The arrests follow an order by MANEB asking companies to send certificate of their employees for vetting.

“It was through such process when we discovered that details on Mgadamika’s copy of certificate were not real. We then instituted investigations,” he said.

Mgadamika later is said to have confessed to police that his certificate was forged.

Meanwhile police have confiscated the computer Mweso is suspected to have used in coming up with the fake qualification.

Maganga said Mgadamika was arrested for holding; a forged certificate while Mweso is in custody for producing the said forged certificate.

They will be charged with altering a false document contrary to Section 360 as read with Section 356 of the Penal Code.
