Some Central Region top party members have been calling for the resignation on Muluzi, on top of demanding for an early convention, on allegations that he has failed to bring sanity in the party.

But Ndanga described those calling for both the convention and Muluzi’s resignation as disgruntled and acting on instruction from Iqbar Omar, whom he said was expelled from the party.

“Our position as the party is that there will be no early convention because there is no basis to do that and secondly, Right Honourable Atupele Muluzi will not resign because those calling for that have no constitutional mandate.

“Our constitution explicitly says that a national executive committee shall convene a national conference and not anybody from the streets. You cannot just work up to day and say we are calling for a convention
“We cannot be working on instruction from disgruntled people whose master, Iqbar Omar was expelled from the party. These people are being sent by him and they are not doing things in good faith,” said Ndanga.
