This initiative will run from October 5, 2015 to January 28, 2016.

This is platform where students in ICT are expected to compete in mobile applications.

The ICT students should come up with innovations that take ICT or mobile application to greater heights.

In a press statement TNM’s Head of Marketing Webster Mbekeani said the promotion was designed to expose ICT talents amongst the youth.

“As a company we realise that there is talent out there which just lacks exposure. We therefore want to expose that talent. Smart Challenge is a vehicle through which these students would showcase their applications,” said Mbekeani.

Mbekeani said TNM was committed to contribute towards the evolution in the local ICT.

“As a caring and patriotic brand TNM is committed to contribute towards the evolution in the local ICT industry through the development of relevant local mobile applications and local content that facilitate the delivery of a world class internet experience to its customers and Malawians at large,” he said.

TNM has engaged mHub, Facebook, Google, Opera Software and IBM as potential technology partners for this initiative.

These partners are expected to provide advice on the implementation of the program and support a platform through which app developers will be able to develop, test and launch their applications.

Chief Executive Officer for mHub Rachel Sibande hailed TNM for the initiative that will assist the young people to be innovative on ICT.

“We are very happy to partner with TNM on this competition that will support the young ones to contribute to the development of ICT in the country,” said Sibande.

The competition is open to all full time students resident in Malawi. These students are expected to use mobile technology to develop solutions that will make an economic and social impact in the country.

Each member of the winning team will get the latest smart phone or laptop such as Samsung S Edge or Iphone6 or 2015 mack book Air or Microsoft surface.
