Young woman wins parliamentary seat in Machinga

A 24 year old woman, from Machinga South East Constituency Fyness Mwagonjwa wins a parliamentary seat in the May 21 tripartite elections.

Speaking to MBC Online, Fyness Mwagonjwa who won with 7,896 votes said she is happy to have emerged winner out of the 8 people who were contesting.
 
 “I am promising people in Machinga South East that am going to develop the area and also I should thank those people who took their time to vote for me though being a youngster,” said Mwagonjwa.
 
 With her victory she becomes one of the youngest candidates to win a parliamentary seat in the recent years.
 
 “The ambition of becoming a member of parliament in my area started long time ago when I was doing my primary school,” she said.
 
 Mwagonjwa also highly praised the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for helping her with the necessary support in order for her to win in this year’s tripartite elections. 
 
 “I started doing my campaign with the help from my parents in 2015 up to 2019 and among other developments, I have built and renovated bridges in my constituency,” said Mwagonjwa.
 
  She further encouraged young girls to work hard at school and think about their life after school and never underrate themselves in life.
