MBC’s Public Relations Officer, Chembezi Mhone says preparations for the event are at an advanced stage and the Guest of Honour is expected to be the First Lady, Madam Dr Gertrude Mutharika.
Mhone said the First Lady has been a champion in the fight against cervical cancer and such events accords her the opportunity to interact with women and share important points with them in as far as cancer is concerned.
“The First Lady has visited several districts in the country to empower women to go for cervical cancer screening and women have actually responded very well. Sometime women need a leader giving them that encouragement. That is why the First Lady will grace this occasion,” explained Mhone.
Mhone called on all women to attend this high-level dinner where women will meet and network with fellow women from all districts in the country in attendance.
She also added that this year’s highlight at the event is a trophy that will be given to a group that has managed to do initiatives that has transformed lives of people in their particular neighbourhoods.
“We have a team of independent judges that will determine who wins and give out the deserved awards. The winners will walk away with a trophy and K1.5 Million, the 1st runner-up will go home with K1 Million while the 2nd runner-up will walk away with K750,000.00,” added Mhone.
