As part of his campaign tour, Chakwera told the crowd that gathered at Nkhotakota L.E.A school ground that once voted into power come 21st May, he will provide good markets to all farmers in the district.
He said farmers do a lot of work to harvest their crops such as rice, maize, cassava, sugarcane, as such they need to be paid back by providing them with good markets at the Admarc.
In his speech, Chakwera also said that he will modernise Nkhotakota Game Reserve so that it should attract more tourists. He said this will promote the tourism sector and Malawi's economy at large.
On youth empowerment, Chakwera said it is his plan to provide national youth services where youth will be able to learn technical vocational skills. He said he is aware that some immoral behaviours by the youth are because they have a lot of unproductive hours.
Chakwera as well promised on national youth fund to allow youth get loans and start small scale businesses.
The MCP leader has therefore called upon people in the district to give him votes and see a better Malawi. The rally was being spiced up by traditional dances like makanja among others.
