Addressing the multitude, Nankhumwa, who is also Local Government and Rural Development Minister, said people in the district should vote for Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and shadow MP for DPP Thoko Tembo for the betterment of Neno.
"We are in the campaign period and there is the need for us in DPP to go out and grab support for the party so that come 21st May people in Neno should vote for Professor Author Peter Mutharika as President of the Republic of Malawi and also its Member of Parliament,” said Nankhumwa.
Nankhumwa added that DPP stands for development, citing Neno Rural Growth Center as one of the achievements that the government has done. He also mentioned the Neno-clean-water feasibility study that government is about to undertake, which he said will make sure that people in the district have access to clean and potable water.
While, concurring with Nankhumwa, Chief Dambe bemoaned the poor construction of Neno Road.
The DPP governor for the South Charles Mchacha shared the chief’s concern, and said Government has also noted that the contractor had done a very sub-standard work.
“We will work with the ACB to dig to the bottom of this matter. We need to find out how much money has been used to construct the road,” said Mchacha.
