DPP Vice President for the South, Kondwani Nankhumwa has emphasised on the need for all political players in Malawi to practice clean and peaceful politics. He said it is high time that all parties in the country adhere to developmental issue-based campaign other than castigating one another because of their difference in political ideologies.

Nankhumwa was speaking at Thawale School Ground in Mwanza on Wednesday during the launch of the 2019 DPP campaign for Mwanza West Constituency.

Nankhumwa who is also the Minister of Local government asked the people of Mwanza to support the DPP by voting for Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as President, Joyce Chitsulo as Member of Parliament, and John Kaudani and Vicencio Mitiwe as councilors for the constituency during the forthcoming May 21 General Elections, to ensure that development projects that stalled due to incompetence of the outgoing MP for the area should be revamped.

On her speech Joyce Chitsulo agreed with Nankhumwa that her aim to stand as an MP for the area was to ensure that she develops it. She then revealed that she chose to stand on the DPP ticket because it is the only party that prioritises development agendas in the country. She gave an example of many development projects being undertaken by the current DPP regime like construction of roads across the country.

Chitsulo, therefore edged all people in her constituency to vote for her so that she prioritise construction of a new Health Centre since the whole constituency has only one. She also promised the constituents that once voted into power will work hand in hand with the the government, Mwanza Council, the councilors for the area, the chiefs etc, to construct different roads which most of them are now impassable. She also promised to rehabilitate and construct different school blocks in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the two councillors was Vicencio Mitiwe, DPP shadow councillor for Mpandadzi ward who in his speech retaliated on the need of all people to continue trusting the current regime as it continues to deliver what it promised in 2014. He also reminded the people to not make a same mistake that they did last time out by choosing untrusted people who dashed the mighty DPP to satisfy their political agendas.
