According to NASAF general secretary Lester Chikoya, the body of Nyondo is expected to arrive at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) at 12:30 PM.

He said upon arrival, the late Nyondo will be taken to Area 47 where friends and family members have been holding a funeral vigil since Saturday.

“Burial of the body will take place on Friday, 24 July 2015, at Area 18 Cemetery in Lilongwe. The burial ceremony will be preceded by a funeral service, which will be conducted from 10 A.M at Church of Christ, in Area 47, Lilongwe,” said Chikoya.

Meanwhile the Alabama community in the US where Nyondo use to spend his time continues to pay tributes to the late NASAF president.

Nyondo's death, at a hospital in South Africa, sent shock waves that have reached his supporters and admirers in the United States, including in the Huntsville, Alabama area.

"James was a man of very high principles and standards," said Larry Vinson, who, because of Nyondo's influence, founded the Decatur, Ala.,-based Alabama-Malawi Investment and partnership council which is developing some micro economic opportunities in the Honduras-sized Southeast African country of about 17 million.

Vinson met Nyondo in 2013 when Nyondo visited the United States to raise funds for his second run for president.

"I spoke to James nearly daily – in the last few weeks he has been very concerned about some of the issues. He predicts that many people will be dying this fall because of the extensive drought in the country and not a lot of preparation to deal with that."

Nyondo died of lung cancer on 17 July 2015, at Steve Biko Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa.
