According Cecilia Mfune who is the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for Mzuzu, at about 6:00 hours unknown driver was driving a Toyota Passo registration number BU 8255 from Mzuzu City towards Mchengautuwa direction with two passengers on board.

“Upon reaching Reserve Bank he collided with a pedal cyclist who carried a female passenger (the deceased). Due to the impact the woman sustained head injuries and internal bleeding, she died upon arrival at Mzuzu Central Hospital. The cyclist sustained head injuries and had a fracture on his right leg now admitted at the said hospital,” said Mfune.

Mfune added that the unknown driver and the said passengers escaped with no injuries. Meanwhile police officers are hunting for the driver and the vehicle has been impounded at Mzuzu Police Station.
