According to Widson Nhlane Deputy Limbe Police Public Relations Officer, the court heard that the convict has been sleeping with his neighbour's daughter since 2015 and in May 2017, she was discovered pregnant.
“This angered the victim's parents who reported the matter to Limbe Police and Paul Kazembe was arrested in the month of May,” said Nhlane.
Nhlane added that Kazembe pleaded guilty in court and asked the presiding magistrate Her Worship Bakili to be lenient when passing judgment because he is the first offender.
However, state prosecutor Inspector Chavinda told the magistrate that the offense is a serious one and requested a stiffer punishment hence slapping him with an eight year custodial sentence to deter would be offenders.
“The positive medical examination results were tendered in court as part of evidence,” added Nhlane.
The convict hails from Kaumbwe village Traditional Authority Kawinga in Machinga district.
