According to the press statement released signed by MOAM Regional chairperson Alick Sakala and Lilongwe Drivers Association spokesperson Fides Banda says it has cancelled the planned strike which was slated on Tuesday following discontentment or disagreement of the two associations over the new re-enforcement of traffic regulations that have been effected since last week.

“The Minibus Association and Lilongwe Minibus Drivers Association on 26th June 2017 held a discussion with Lilongwe police station where all the issues that necessitated the two associations to hold a strike were amicably resolved and agreed to,” says the statement.

The statement further says in view of this, the two associations are hereby informing its members and general public that the strike has been called off and will disown any of its member(s) who will do to the contrary and calls upon the Malawi Police Service to arrest anybody who will do to the contrary on behalf or in the name of these two associations.
