President Mutharika made the appeal during silver jubilee of religious profession of His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa at Iba primary school ground in Mangochi. The Malawi leader said religious leaders elsewhere command a huge following hence they should continue helping preserve national stability through prayers.
Professor Mutharika further said the path and life of His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa speak the voice of God as the creator can do what is impossible with humans.
“There are many lessons we can learn from the life of His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa,” said Mutharika adding that Msusa is a strong person as he has been vital on the issues that affect the nation.
The President also praised Malawians especially from Mangochi for good relationship despite the district having different religious beliefs. He therefore appealed to Malawians to love each other and the country to end poverty.
In his brief speech, His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa commended the Malawi leader for gracing his silver jubilee especially at a place where he started his Christian life. He said what God has done to him is exceptional as no one knew that he would be a Christian.
Speaking earlier, His Lordship Bishop Montfort Sitima of Mangochi Diocese said the spiritual journey of His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa is interesting and encouraging to many.
Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa was born in Namwera at Iba village in Mangochi in 1962 and was baptized in 1974 at Our Lady of Lourdes – Namwera Parish in Mangochi Diocese. He received Sacrament of Confirmation in 1975.
Before joining the Catholic Church, His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa was a Muslim and he belongs to Yao tribe.
