According to Limbe Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Widson Nhlane said the police conducted the exercise after the tip that a lot of people in Limbe are robbed their belongings.

“Following reports that people are being robbed of their money and Cellphones in Limbe township, the police conducted a sweeping exercise after wearing civilian or plain clothes and managed to arrest 87 suspects,” said Nhlane.

He further said the suspects have already been charged with offences such as; found in possession of property suspected to have been stolen, touting, idle and disorderly and illegal vending and they are to appear in court on June 23, 2017 to answer charges leveled against them.

“Police is advising members of the public mainly those who buy items in Limbe business centre to buy items in shops, never allow the so called Mwandikumbukira (have you remembered me) to trick them,” advised Nhlane.

Nhlane pointed out that sweeping operation is an ongoing exercise as one way of making sure that properties and lives of people are protected in the policing area.
