Breaking the news to MBC on Tuesday evening, the former minister of information during the two yearlong PP regime has so far denied rumors that he is contemplating of joining the opposition Malawi congress Party.
`Yes It’s true I have resigned from PP as a member as well as a vice president because I would like to embark on a personal project` Said Mpinganjira.
He said he has hope that the party is in safe hands and that it will continue as an institution.
His resignation contradicts reports from the party`s spokesperson Ken Nsonda who once said the orange army is in safe hands of the likes of Mpinganjira despite the absence of its founder Dr Joyce Banda.
Mpinganjira lost election at people’s party convention, later got the position after Sidik Mia resigned from the party for UDF.
`I would like to refute the allegations that are linking me to the Malawi congress Party (MCP),I have not been in touch with the said party`. Added zMpinganjira.
However efforts to speak to the party`s Secretary General Ibrahim Matola and its spokesperson Ken Ndanga proved futile as their phones could not be answered.
His resignation is a third resignation of a senior member following Harry Mkandawire and former deputy secretary general for the party George Zulu.
