Three of the nine people that were killed in a road accident in Mozambique near Tete are Malawians, Minister of Foreign Affairs Francis Kasaira has disclosed.

Katsairas disclosure was made in parliament on Wednesday when he gave an impromptu state of affairs of the accident involving a South African registered passenger bus following a number of conflicting social media reports about the incident.


The bus which was going to Malawi had 68 passengers on board and was involved in a collision with a heavy goods truck and a salon car.


“Three of the Malawian passengers are critically injured. Two pregnant women were also aboard the bus and they are receiving special treatment in Mozambique before they are sent here,” he said.


He added that all the 25 passengers from other nationalities, including Malawi have been repatriated to their countries of origin.


The bus registration number KM256NGP and the trailers motor vehicle registration number is KM10NGP belongs to Nyamende bus transport services.
