That is what makes Malawi so exciting and attractive to people around the world. Its culture centers on the ethnic groups and family traditions. Malawian art, music, oral literature, all display the religious and social patterns of its culture.
Appreciating the importance of culture many scholars have tried to write so that the coming generation should know their past and ideologies they subscribe to.
One of the people who are trying to make sure that the culture among Malawians is preserved has launched the book called Tumbuka Ideophone.
During the launch the writer William Mvalo, former Mzuzu University academician urged all Malawians to take pride of their culture through using their local languages. Mvalo added that culture identifies people and every Malawian should strive to maintain it.
Meanwhile, there are over 20 spoken local languages. The most prominent languages spoken include; Chichewa, Tumbuka, Yao, Lhomwe and Sena.
The book Tumbuka Ideophone has been published by Mzuzu University Press; it is believed that the book will help many people to understand Tumbuka culture.
