On Thursday Members of Parliament agreed to defer to next week Wednesday debate on a report on the review of its standing orders to give themselves time to make necessary consultations on the matter.


The State President Professor Peter Mutharika has appointed Kondwani Nankhumwa as interim Leader of Government business in Parliament with immediate effect.


On Monday when Parliament resumed for the Mid-Year Budget review, Speaker of the House Richard Msowoya ruled that in the absence of Leader of the House  Dr. George Chaponda his Deputy Kondwani Nankhumwa should take over the leadership of the House.
