Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa V of Mzimba has stressed the need for people in the country to own developmental activities taking place in their respective communities.
The Mzimba Ngoni royalty was speaking at Edingeni in Mzimba, when the Abantwana ba M’mbelwa, a grouping of sons and daughters of the Mmbelwa dynasty were launching the group, which will among other things be involved in development activities in the area.
“The reason we invest in educating our sons and daughters is that at some time they should offer a helping hand in the transformation of our society. The initiative taken by the Abantwana ba M’mbelwa is commendable, they are giving back to the community, and people here will benefit a lot”, said Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa V.
Chaiperson of the grouping, Nelson Nyirenda has since pledged the group’s commitment in supporting different areas requiring assistance in the development of their area.
“We will be looking into environmental restoration and conservation, issues of education, health and the entire well being of the people here,” said Nyirenda.
M’mbelwa District Council Commissioner, Thomas Chirwa says there are numerous areas that need the assistance of such groupings.
“Government cannot do everything on its own. Citizens must also take part in solving some of the small challenges,” said Chirwa.
Launching the activities of the grouping, the Abantwana ba M’mbelwa planted 1300 trees at Edingeni Community Day Secondary School and Edingeni Primary School.
