“Multinational fuel operators should not use the country as a dumping site but invest in infrastructure to improve the country’s outlook,” said Kutsaira

The minister also said that his ministry and Mera have come up with new standards for each gas station to follow.

“We need proper gas stations with shops, washrooms, parking and emergency assembly. Some operators run in service station with poor sanitation in toilets and leaking fuel canes,” he said.

Kutsaira also congratulated Total Malawi for its contributions towards the country’s economic development.

“The company is involved in different corporate social initiatives that are benefiting communities. When you go to Total Malawi gas station everyone is assured of the best service,” he said

Total Malawi managing director Salamata Ball said the company values safety of employees and customers.

“Our brand has evolved over time and we need to be in a place that reflects our current image. We promise and symbolize our pioneer spirit as a leading service provider in the country.

“This structure meets international standards with backup solar power supply and with five meeting rooms. It is designed to optimize space and comfortable for a work environment where multiple tasks are carried out at the same time” she said.
