TAYO donates to disaster stricken families

Thyolo Active Youth Organization-TAYO has donated relief items worth1.8 million Kwacha to people that have been affected by persistent rains in Thyolo.

Speaking at Gombe primary school in the area of Traditional Authority Thukuta the Programs Officer for TAYO Titus Chapomba says the donation will ease the suffering of the affected people.
 
 
 
These items include blankets, cups, buckets and soap.
 
 “We have running projects here so after noting that people we are working with have been hit with this disaster we thought of jumping in with help,” said Chapomba.
 
 Commenting on the donation the district desk officer for Department Disaster Management-DoDMA, Jossen Tembo described the assistance as timely.
 
 “We were not spared. Hundreds have lost properties due to the persistent rains and some families had their fields washed away,” said Tembo.
 
Expressing his appreciation one of the beneficiaries Kepson Ndewere said the items received will help them a lot.
 
 1360 people have been affected by the floods in Thyolo with some losing their livestock and homes.
