DPP National Director of Women Cecilia Chazama said this when she held a meeting with hundreds of women from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party at the Lilongwe Community Centre Ground.
According to Chazama, the Party values the role women play in various aspects of leadership hence its quest for inclusiveness.
Chazama said women should be in the forefront in championing women empowerment agenda and mobilizing support for all DPP women candidates who are taking part in the forthcoming May 2019 tripartite elections.
“We have opted to conduct meetings in various constitutions and empower them and emphasis on the development projects that the President is implementing in all parts of the country. We are impressed with progress on development and we want to assure people that we will continue developing the country through these women,” said Chazama.
Chazama then went further to say as a party, they are impressed with the inroads that the party has made in pushing for women participation, a vision championed by His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
During the meeting, women aspirants were paraded and urged to fly the DPP flag high and work towards promoting development and women empowerment.
