Water Aid Malawi Country Director Mercy Masoo made the remarks in Lilongwe when she presented a MK40 million donation to this year’s Mothers Fun run activity. This is the highest contribution from one organization to the cause since it started 13 years ago.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of Water Aid Malawi, Masoo indicated that her organization will this year focus on rehabilitating all health facilities with maternity services in Ntchisi District.

She says the initiative to rehabilitate and help maternity facilities is a brilliant idea that every Malawian of good intension should embrace to ensure that no woman dies while bringing life into the world.

“Our contribution today is to support water sanitation and hygiene in some of the health care facilities in Ntchisi. Our desire is that by the end of the next 2 years, we should have covered all the health care facilities in Ntchisi; working in partnership with others who would also want to support improvement in these facilities,” said Masoo.

She says as an organization, Water Aid is ready to work with any organization that would come forward to renovate some of the health facilities of the country
