DPP Secretary General Grelzedar Jeffery made the remarks in Mzuzu during the party’s regional meeting for the North.
The meeting was organized to strengthen grassroot structures and map the way forward in readiness for the 2019 elections.
Jeffrey also urged its members and aspirants for the 2019 elections to follow the footsteps of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika in spearheading development as the party gears for the 2019 victory.
Our President is focused; the party has visionary leaders who are focused as such we also expect our members to remain focused.
“As a party, we would like to emphasize that we are prepared for another triumphant election in all regions of the country. While we anticipate multitudes to vote for President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, the party is also geared to win all the 33 constituencies up for grabs in the Northern region,” noted Jeffrey.
The Secretary General also appealed to its members to speak with one voice, love one another and strengthen the party at all levels.
"The party belongs to the people, the people we serve, the people who are witnessing DPP’s development all over, lets materialize the operation landslide campaign," she said.
Meanwhile, the DPP has become a force to reckon with as many people are joining the party in addition to those willing to represent it on parliamentary and local government elections.
DPP Vice President for the North, Goodall Gondwe said the party’s open door policy has raised confidence levels of the party as many people are flocking to the party.
“The North has seen it for itself, it has witnessed what the DPP has done and still doing in the region and we cannot say much but thank the leadership for considering develops in the region. This is the reason why people are behind the DPP,” observed Gondwe.
Meanwhile the party has promised to continue observing all the democratic principles of the party during the party's convention and primaries as it continues to deliver people's promises through tenets of unity prosperity and development among others.
