NICE Trust District Civic Education Officer for Mzuzu and Mzimba North, Wisdom Nyirenda made the remarks during a meeting NICE Trust organized for Mzuzu based Civil Society organizations and networks and said apart from offering a platform of interaction and sharing ideas, the meeting centered on how networks can perform.

“We invited Mzuzu Civil Society organizations just to share best practices on the previous challenges that stifled the performance of most CSOs and networks,” said Nyirenda.

Nyirenda then assured networks that they will receive support from the trust so as to build on the existing foundations through capacity building as well as financial resources.

A participant, Peter Mumba of the Mzuzu Civil Society Network, admitted that the network has been failing to carry out its duties effectively due to knowledge gap on their roles apart from financial constraints describing it as a reminder on their responsibilities.

“The meeting has brought enough understanding on how best we can strengthen our organizations and the networks in which we work with,” said Mumba.

The resolutions during the meeting included holding of fresh elections for the networks’ office bearers on a date to be communicated through the facilitation of NICE Trust.
