Mw, Moz geared to strengthen border relations

As one way of strengthening border relations between Malawi and Mozambique, officials from Zobue and Mwanza border held an interface meeting at Mwanza DCs office on Friday June 14, 2017.

In her welcoming remarks Officer in-charge Mwanza Police Manjolo who was also led the Malawi delegates commended the visitors for coming to the meeting in which she said the fruits of the meeting will benefit nationals of both countries.


"Am very happy that you are here in Mwanza, frequent meetings of this kind will benefit not only Malawians or Mozambicans but the whole travelling community that we serve every day,” said Manjolo.


Crossborder crimes, general border relationships, Illtreatment of the travelling communities by security agencies, lack of proper documentations were key issues that took centre stage during the meeting.


In her remarks, Maria Do Carmo who led the Mozambican delegation at the meeting described the meeting as vital in settling border relations issues. She further appealed for continuity of such meetings since they strengthen peace and tranquility for both sides. Do Carmo added that as Zobue Police they will make sure all the concerns being raised will be dealt with immediately,


"I should be honest here that each and every section/organization has bad apples but I can assure you that all these concerns that have been raised will be handled professionally and expect change," she assured.


Immigration and National Intelligence Bureau officials from both countries were also in attendance at the meeting.
