DPP Secretary General Grelzedar Jeffrey was speaking at Karonga Boma during a development rally. During the meeting members from the opposition Malawi Congress Party, Alliance for Democracy-AFFORD and the People's Party - PP announced their defection to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party.
Commenting on the matter DPP Secretary General Grelzedar Jeffrey said this manifests the strength of the party in the region.
"I was in Chitipa and today here at Karonga large crowds have attended our meetings which shows how strong the party is," said Jeffrey.
Jeffrey further added that its the wish of the DPP to follow to practice an open door policy for those wishing to join the party.
"We are ready to welcome everyone wishing to join the party, but let's all be united and accept each other as sons and daughters of the President," said Jeffrey.
On his part DPP Regional Governor for the North Kenneth Sanga was all praise for the support the party enjoys in the region.
"No need of research or trials, the turn up speaks volumes," said Sanga.
Adding that this signals trouble in the opposition camps and victory to the ruling DPP.
Traditional Authority Kilupula of the district could not hide his words but commended the DPP government for performing according to people's expectations.
"We are happy with development projects being initiated and things are ticking" said TA Kilupula.
Members of the National Governing Council, community leaders and people from all walks of life attended the meeting.
