Modern Farming Technology (MFT) Managing Director, Atusaye Kayuni says horticulture production has the potential to help the country achieve the 2063 agenda if adequately invested.
Kayuni made the remarks at his Luvwele Farm in Mzimba during an education visit by Mzuzu University students from the Faculty of Environmental Sciences in the Department of Agri-science.
“The industry has high value returns on a small piece of land thereby key in job creation for the country,” said Kayuni.
Kayuni further added that the industry remains key in earning more forex.
Aumer Deza, a fourth-year Agri-science and Entrepreneurship student, said the visit to the farm was an inspiration to students aspiring to venture into agribusiness, thereby enhancing job opportunities for the youth.
Mzuzu University Agri-Science Lecturer, Nyumbani Moyo, said the tour has accorded the students an opportunity to gain practical knowledge.
