District Commissioner for Zomba, Reinghard Chavula, has advised members of staff of the district council to still regard HIV and AIDS as a threat.
Chavula said many people nowadays are underestimating the existence of the pandemic but it remains a big threat to human life.
“It is important that we keep talking about HIV and AIDs even in our workplaces. For your information, the disease is still a health threat and could lead to death,” Chavula said.
She hailed the office of Nutrition and HIV at the council for organising a workshop for the staff, which she said would remind officers of the need to take good care of themselves.
Chief Nutrition and HIV Officer for Zomba District Council, Maggie Chiwawula, said the workshop was aimed at disseminating messages of hope.
Chiwawula concurred with the District Commissioner on the need for members to abstain and live a healthy life free from sexually transmitted diseases.
