Green Triumph: Ministry exceeds tree planting target with 6 million trees

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Climate Change says the 2023/24 national tree planting and forestry management activities have registered success as 40 million trees have been planted surpassing the initial target of 34 million trees.

In a statement signed by Director of Forestry, Titus Zulu, the ministry says over 7,000 hectares of natural regeneration have also been managed owing to the concerted efforts and extensive stakeholder engagement in the tree planting initiatives.

The ministry further says the conclusion of the 2023/24 tree planting season does not mean the end of commitment for forestry stewardship rather it just signals the beginning of a new phase focused on nurturing and sustaining the newly planted trees and established trees.
