The Ministry of Education has recruited and promoted a total of 9,753 secondary school teachers.
In a statement signed by Principal Secretary Chikondano Mussa, the Ministry says it has recruited 2,681 teachers and promoted 2,281 at grade T1 and TJ, respectively.
According to the statement, a total of 3,997 others have been promoted as senior teachers and heads of departments.
The Ministry has also selected candidates to undergo a two-year training under the Initial Primary Teacher Education Cohort 19 in public Teachers Training Colleges and they are expected to report at their respective colleges on 25 February 2024.
