Minister of Agriculture, Sam Kawale says the government is determined to end hunger.
Speaking at Chimbiya Primary School in Zomba during the joint celebration of World Food Day and African Food Security Day, Kawale emphasised that the government’s goal is not just to reduce hunger but to eliminate it.
“We are intensifying irrigation farming, providing agricultural loans through the National Economic and Empowerment Fund (NEEF) and establishing more mega-farms,” said Kawale.
Kawale urged Malawians to take farming seriously.
Traditional Authority Nkapita of Chingale Zomba hailed the government for constructing two irrigation schemes in the area which he said would help in ending hunger.
