One of the international development organizations FutureLife-Now! has awarded top three students with recognition certificates and prize money in the just-ended school competition.
Speaking at Umbwi Secondary School during presentation of prizes to deserving students who managed to submit essays, poems and short stories, FutureLife- Now! Country manager, Croxley Nkhoma said the competition sought to create awareness amongst young people in their school environment to make a positive change.
“We organise IF I WERE A LEADER competition in ten secondary schools where we are implementing our interventions in HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). Today we are awarding Mariam Nkhata a form four top winner with K416,000 while the second-placed winner is Medson Mayeso a form 3 student with K249,000, these two winners are both Umbwi Secondary School students and the third-placed is Hamima Aufi a form 3 student from Linthipe Community Day Secondary School who got K166,000, congratulations to them,” said Nkhoma.
Commenting on the development, Umbwi Secondary School’s Headteacher, Bernadeta Chitwere, described the awards as very encouraging and her institution will continue to lead the way.
