‘Flames should psychologically prepare for Burkina Faso’

Sports analyst Dan Chemis has urged Flames Coach Patrick Mabedi to psychologically prepare his players against Burkina Faso at Bamako in Mali on Tuesday in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at Stade du 26-Mars.

This will be Malawi and Burkina Faso’s second assignments in the qualifiers.

Malawi lost 3-2 against Burundi while Burkina Faso were held 1-1 against Senegal, ranking the Flames bottom in Group L.

“When playing against Burkina Faso we are always on the losing side. Additionally, Mabedi should make his players believe and the team selection should be looked at seriously,” Chemis said.

The Flames Coach said he had identified and rectified errors in defence and attack.

He said Malawi’s target is a win since the game shall be played at a neutral venue and said the players’ morale has peaked.

The two sides have met four times, with Burkina Faso winning thrice and the other one ended in a draw.

Meanwhile, Burundi is this afternoon expected to host Senegal at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
