First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera has advised women in the country to defy all hurdles and engage in various economic activities aimed at improving the living conditions of their families and society.
Madam Chakwera was speaking in Lilongwe during the official launch of a book titled – Woman of Noble Character. The book has been written by Reverend Rebecca Banda.
Among others, the book – Woman of Noble Character inspires and challenges women to discover their purpose in society by being hardworking, faithful, honest, and helping improve the living conditions of the less privileged children and their communities at large.
Speaking at the book launch, Madam Chakwera commended the author for challenging women to rise and find ways of dealing with contemporary problems but most importantly become beacons of hope and role models for the young generation.
On economic empowerment, the First Lady advised women to work hard in various activities and become key stakeholders of the Malawi 2063 aspirations.
“This book comes on time. It is a yardstick to guide us women to ask ourselves questions about specific qualities that we need to continuously seek after, polish and emulate for future generations. The book, Women of Noble Character challenges us to remember that our characters are crucial for the younger generations to emulate,” said Madam Chakwera.
For her part, the author Reverend Rebecca Banda said the book is intended to help women change their mindset and re-discover their role of mentoring the youth and transforming lives of the underprivileged.
“I have a passion to help underprivileged women and children hence the book mobilises women to care for these groups while imparting the same passion and lessons to the youth,“ said Reverend Banda of the Assemblies of God.
Meanwhile, part of the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the Haven of Hope Lay Training Centre at Chitipi in Lilongwe, which provides business capacity for widows.
