Chinese Medical Team has donated medical equipment to Kamuzu Central Hospital to improve health service delivery at the facility.
Additionally, the Chinese Government has also provided 20 medical practitioners specialised in gynaecology, surgery and paediatrics.
Deputy Minister of Health, Halima Daud, expressed gratitude to the Chinese Government for the advance medical equipment.
Daud said the expatriates availability in Malawi will save funds used to send patients abroad for treatment.
Nonetheless, she asked the Chinese Government to consider helping the country have a cardiac hospital since at the moment there is none.
Chinese Ambassador to Malawi, Long Zhou, said such donations will strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Zhou said his government is also providing training opportunities for Malawian medical personnel to be trained in China.
Chinese Medical Team has been helping Malawi’s central hospitals of Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre since 2007.
