CHINA MEDICAL TEAM DONATES K37 MN EQUIPMENT TO KCH

The China Medical Team has donated assorted medical equipment worth K37 million to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH).

This comes barely a month after the 10th team of 17 surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and gynaecologists arrived in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the team Dr Zhu Jinwen who is also a Spine Surgeon said they are optimistic that the equipment will bring better medical services to the people of Malawi.

“In China, we believe to teach people to be self-reliant. When this team leaves we want to leave an ever-growing surgical team here that knows its job,” said Dr Zhu.

In his remarks after receiving the equipment, KCH Hospital Director Dr Jonathan Ngoma said the equipment will go a long way in improving services at the hospital.

“The equipment that we have received from the China medical team will ease our work. Several departments, will be able to use it,” said Dr Ngoma.

The team has donated diagnostic machines, theatre beds, infant incubators, and other surgical equipment.

The China medical team is also providing similar services to Mzuzu Central Hospital and will be in the country for a year.
