Diaspora wing of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has endorsed President Chakwera to contest in the general elections next year.
The remarks come as on Thursday President Chakwera announced his readiness at a development rally in Lilongwe to contest in the upcoming general elections once he has been endorsed by the Malawi Congress Party at its convention in August.
Chalo Mvula, President of the Malawi Congress Party Diaspora Network (MCPDN), emphasised that Malawians living abroad are aware of the challenges facing the country and the efforts made by Tonse Alliance to steer the nation in the right direction.
“We feel the president has laid good foundations, overriding the enormous challenges that gripped his first term that includes world economic chaos due to the Russia-Ukraine Wall, the COVID Pandemic and the cyclone disasters,” said Mvula.
Mvula acknowledged the skepticism of some Malawians regarding the administration’s capabilities.
However, he assured that “the turbulent period is over and that Malawi is now on a positive trajectory.”
