Lymon Zimphondo, Malawi Congress Party’s Member of Parliament for Ntcheu North, has distributed K10 million to 40 Village Savings and Loan (VSL) groups in Ntcheu District to boost their economic muscle.
The funds, which were disbursed during a ceremony held at Chigwamowa Village,
are from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF)’s allocation for women and youth empowerment and each group has pocketed K250,000.
Zimphondo said the beneficiaries will soon be trained in proper business management.
One of the recipients, Mary Gama, a representative of Chikondi-Mpusadala VSL Group, called it ‘a morale elevator’.
Traditional Authority Chakhumbira hailed the legislator for supporting the groups.
