A renowned Agricultural expert, Tamani Nkhono Mvula, has described the passing of the Cannabis Amendment Bill of 2024 as a huge milestone in as far as widening resources that come from agricultural production in Malawi is concerned.
Nkhono says this will help Malawi earn forex from other crops apart from traditional ones.
He however warns that caution should be taken as the plant in question is regarded as a drug and could fuel some social and health consequences.
However, Director General of the Cannabis Regulatory Authority, Dr Ketulo Salipila, says the industry will be well regulated as anyone seeking to venturing into the business will have to be licenced.
