Nsanje District Officials have expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Bangula-Marka railway construction works.
On Tuesday, the District’s Commissioner, Dominic Mwandira, said there is good progress and people in the district are geared to see the completion of the project.
Mwandira said the project is expected to open up business opportunities to communities, once completed.
Senior Chief Chimombo said the project will revive the lost economic development of the district and potentially transform Nsanje into one of the best towns in the country.
Chimombo described the project as key since it will benefit Malawians at large and not only the People of Shire Valley.
He also applauded President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for making this project a reality.
Government is constructing a multibillion, 72 Kilometre railway in the district, which is connecting to Mozambique a project that is designed to end for 18 months.
