28 districts councils are set to benefit from a five-year World Bank funded project, which aims to improve resilience to water related shocks across the country.
World Bank is funding the project through the Regional Climate Resilience Programme (RCRP 2) to the tune of about $240 million.
This is a successor programme to RCRP 1 which targeted eastern Africa.
Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda, urged the councils to use the resources for the intended purposes after disbursement of initial K17 billion grants to councils.
Meanwhile, District Commissioner for Thyolo, Hudson Kuphanga, has since unveiled plans to build disaster resilient bridges with the grant of over K1 billion from the bank.
