2 NABBED FOR IMPERSONATING NEEF OFFICERS IN DOWA

Two people in Dowa District have been arrested for posing as National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) personnel and obtaining money by false pretense.

Alice Sitima, Dowa Police Station Spokesperson, identified the two as 45-year-old Levison Mgubani and Stemcam Chatinkha who is 41-years-old .

Sitima said the duo was arrested after NEEF Senior Operations Supervisor responsible for Dowa and Mponela, Precious Chinthenga, received a tip that some people were going around Dzaleka Refugee Camp posing as NEEF officers from Dowa District.

Police were alerted and their investigations led to the arrest of Chatinkha, who was found with fake NEEF loan application forms and led the law enforcers to the house of his accomplice.

The two revealed that they had registered three clubs, namely Tilitonse, Katondo and Tiyese where they collected money amounting to K460,000 as deposits.
